Stolen Car

Last night I had a dream that I went to downtown with my grandparents and my brother. We were enjoying the night drive and watched the city lights. For some reason I dropped off my grandparents at a pharmacy. Then I went to put gas in my car with my brother. I asked my brother to go pay the cashier inside while I opened the gas tank. There was a problem paying and my brother said the cashier needed me to go inside.

Frustrated I went to go see the cashier. I finished paying and returned. As I was walking back I saw a guy jump inside my car and drive away. I tried to run after him but he sped away. I started to panic and asked my brother to call the police as I continued to walk the direction he headed to. I started thinking of how my purse, that had my ID and cards as well as my house keys, was inside the car. I had also left my cell phone inside. I thought about my grandparents and how they were stranded. They were probably calling my phone. I was scared and worried. As my brother spoke to the police I started to cry and that's when I woke up. It was a scary, frustrating, and angering dream.

What I learned from this dream:

- NEVER LEAVE YOUR KEYS INSIDE YOUR CAR WHEN PUMPING GAS

Sleep is important

I love to use the Stumble! tool bar. Today I was using it and came across this site: The Idea Swap

It is a very entertaining site where you can submit your ideas. I submitted the following one:

Allow for nap time even in our adult lives. At work or in college. Sleep is so important and so many people suffer from lack of it.

I think nap time is an awesome idea. I remember when I was in middle school and I would die of sleep. I had the idea that there should be a nap time club. Obviously, having a group of hormonal teenagers napping together can pose some problems. But either way it is a good idea. If we incorporated a 15 minute nap time into our lunch time at work we would feel amazing and re-energized.

The Harvard Women’s Health Watch suggests six reasons to get enough sleep:

1- Learning and memory: Sleep helps the brain commit new information to memory through a process called memory consolidation. In studies, people who’d slept after learning a task did better on tests later.

2- Metabolism and weight: Chronic sleep deprivation may cause weight gain by affecting the way our bodies process and store carbohydrates, and by altering levels of hormones that affect our appetite.

3- Safety: Sleep debt contributes to a greater tendency to fall asleep during the daytime. These lapses may cause falls and mistakes such as medical errors, air traffic mishaps, and road accidents.

4- Mood: Sleep loss may result in irritability, impatience, inability to concentrate, and moodiness. Too little sleep can also leave you too tired to do the things you like to do.

5- Cardiovascular health: Serious sleep disorders have been linked to hypertension, increased stress hormone levels, and irregular heartbeat.

6- Disease: Sleep deprivation alters immune function, including the activity of the body’s killer cells. Keeping up with sleep may also help fight cancer.

So now you know the importance of sleep!

Interruption

Have you ever been in the middle of a great dream when suddenly you wake up?

I hate when that happens. I especially get angry if I am awakened by someone. Just the other day I was having an amazing dream where I was with my boyfriend. It felt very real and I was happy. Unfortunately, a car alarm went off outside my window and it woke me up. I was angry and wanted to continue the dream.

This brings me to another topic I want to discuss which is starting up a dream from where you left off. If I have time to go back to sleep I tend to reenter my dream from where I was interrupted. I usually have more control over the dream when I do this. To be able to do this you have to immediately go back to sleep after being rudely awakened. Reconstruct the image of your dream in your mind and go to sleep. The rest should follow.

Good luck dreamers & Sweet dreams!

Dream in Color

Last night I dreamt about an old friend. She was in a parking lot applying lipstick on her lips. They were bright pink. The color was very vivid. She turned to me and asked if I wanted to try some on.

I am sure I dream in color. This isn't the first colorful dream I have. One time I dreamt that I was flying and below me were green pastures with white and black cows. Its very pretty to dream in color. Do you dream in color?

16 Things

16 Things You Didn't Know About Sleep
Via: Psychology Degree

Insomnia

What a wonderful way to start a dream journal blog... with insomnia. I can't sleep. It's not that late but I had a long day so I would think I would be able to fall asleep easily. I was wrong! Anyway, I thought I would share a couple of things that may help you fall asleep. They help me fall asleep so here they are:

1- Take your dog for a long walk.
Being outside and observing the night gets me to that sleepy mood. Also, it helps me get to the right amount of tired so that I can fall asleep and lets me loose focus on the thoughts that are keeping me awake.

2- Take a hot shower.
Water is very relaxing. It feels good on my skin and will get me to that sleepy mood. The heat is good for the muscles and what not.

3- Talk to your significant other.
When I can't sleep I tend to call my boyfriend. No offense to him but sometimes he rambles on about random things that slowly lull me into a sense of calm, (or bore me to sleep). WARNING- this could backfire if the other person starts talking about interesting things or pisses you off or is already asleep themselves.

4- Drink milk or sleepy time tea.
This has worked maybe like twice.

5- Read a book.
This is probably a good option for the people who are already tired but not quite at the sleepy state. If you are wide awake then not so much.

And that is all the advice I have for now. I'm going to try to go to sleep now so that I have a dream to post tomorrow. Good night!
